What is "Bring Back Our Girls"?
On April 14, 2014, 276 schoolgirls were kidnapped from Chibok, Nigeria, by the terrorist group Boko Haram. Although 57 managed to escape, 219 are still missing. And Boko Haram has gone on to steal thousands more women and children who are being tortured, raped, impregnated, sold for $10 as sex slaves or wives to their enslavers. While military raids recently reclaimed some, not one of the remaining Chibok abductees has been restored to her life or her family.
The situation is dire, but we believe there is strength in numbers—specifically, the numbers we hope every free woman, man, teenager, and child worldwide will wear to tell the Nigerian government, their own government, the media, friends, strangers they pass every day that they—we—have not forgotten and will not give up until all the girls have been safely returned.
Please choose any number between 1 and 219 that is meaningful to you to wear as a pendant on a chain or a charm on a bracelet. Your number will represent one of the stolen girls. It will also symbolize every helpless girl and woman being held and brutalized. Keep their story alive. Hold them in your heart. Remember them. Talk about them.
Spread the word: Bring back our girls!
A portion of the proceeds of all sales will be donated to Pathfinders' Hearts of Hope Project which supports female Boko Haram abductees who were recently rescued from the Sambisa Forest in Nigeria.
